McCain Amazing
I have to copy this post from Darius, cause this article about being a POW and trying to communicate and survive is really heavy.
I will do is copy and paste the comment I made on Dario blog
I think the greatest indication of McCain's honour is the fact that he could have procured an early release for himself by virtue of the high status his father had within the forces, but he stayed behind and further endured such horiffic torture because he did not want to be a "queue jumper" and be placed ahead of other prisoners who had been there longer.
I certainly know who I would be voting for if I were a US citizen.
PS I recommend the book 'An Evil Cradling' by Brian Keenan.
While there's no doubt that Mccain acted courageously and honorably during his military service, i don't think it was that different than most servicemen. That is to say it is fine to honor McCain, but you should remember to honor the unknown and unnamed service men just as much as the ones running for president.
like rachel said, loky, i imagine mccain had much better opportunities to give in and get out, due to his old man. it's like all the hype about the prince of england joining the army and fighting in afganistan. why all the fuss about him? is he risking any more than the other thousands of soldiers? well, yes indeed he is: the easy life of being a born aristocrat. most of the soldiers didn't get the offers mccain did, so he had to put up with a different kind of temptation.
obviously, i honor every courageous man, but you can't expect me to write about anybody besides who i read about in the paper, or people i know. but everybody i know is a lazy coward, or emaciated or fat, or high or depressed all the time, or break dances in a way that scares everybody into leaving the club cause they're "tired."

what's that about, like an evil babysitter, who cradles babies in a manner that is evil?
